GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS!
I am extremely pleased to announce that THE OLIE BLOG IS LIVE!! If you don't know who I am, where you are, where I am, or who you are; don't panic! (Well, maybe that last one is cause for concern.) I plan to go through basically everything within the next few paragraphs. Strap in!
My name is olie (they/he). I'm a queer autistic fella from the UK who gets really obsessed with specific things and dedicates every waking moment to pursuing them. Sometimes it's music, sometimes it's art, sometimes it's a specific story, but 90% of the time it's something creative that I can eventually share with the world.
My largest projects as of writing have probably been the "levelpacks" I created for the video game Baba Is You - best known for having unique mechanics not seen anywhere else and entirely original soundtracks I composed specifically for them. Check out more about them here!
I'm trying to move away from creating levelpacks for the time being, since the stories I want to tell wouldn't fit the puzzle genre very well. I mean, they could work, but I could instead just write a visual novel and it'd be 10x less effort, you know?
Anything I make, really! I talk about it in more detail in the following paragraphs, but here's the gist:
News about any big creative projects I'm working on, or anything cool I have to showcase in Misc Stuff or elsewhere. Don't expect anything like an "olie's day-to-day life!!!" sort of thing because I don't think that'd be very interesting.
One thing I would like to consistently show off on the blog is my art sketchbook! It's not fantastic by any means, but I get a lot of joy from doing it and it'd be really nice to share that joy with other people.
I also wouldn't be opposed to doing tours of my previous sketchbooks if anyone is at all interested in that. I don't know, we'll see!

Hazel Hotel is a fake universe I made up that doesn't really have a reason for existing. I just love designing little characters to be as unique and distinct from each other as possible!
The universe was originally created to star in a Baba levelpack - Hazel Hotel would have been a "game" that had been abandonded for 20 years and developed a life of it's own, something you'd experience by playing the levelpack. It was weird and creepy, and while I don't hate the idea, both Baba Is You and Hazel Hotel were quite clearly not good fits for this sort of story. I tried the fake game idea again later, first through a fake article and then through a fake blog, but I ended up having way more fun writing about this fake game "before" it turned all weird and creepy. Then I started drawing more characters in my sketchbook and here we are.
Anyway, my rambles on them within this blog will be brief at best; I'll save the truly inane stuff for the dedicated Hazel Hotel page, which you can visit if you want the full scoop on any of my guys. New character pages will be uploaded as-and-when I feel like it. Don't worry there's no chance I'll run out of characters I have nearly 50 by now lol
At the time of writing, not much exists on the Misc Stuff page yet. Currently, it contains my short story IMAGINANNIE, a weird and mostly-incoherent tale about a girl who believes in possibilities just as much as facts. It's the complete opposite of my usual style (although it's not like I have many other public stories to compare it to, lol), but it was a fun experiment and I'm pretty proud of the atmosphere.
I've also rereleased an old blog post I made back in February 2023 about the cut content of Everypence. It should be a lot more readable with this CSS formatting, and there's a new music track that wasn't in the original post.
